"Gingerbread" Houses

Kirstyn and I made a quick trip to Oregon to deliver Sierra back home, and decided that whilst here, we needed to hold with our non-existent tradition of making gingerbread houses! Since Aunt Sharon, our lovely host, is not only accommodating but wise, she not only agreed, but suggested a slight alternative: graham cracker houses. They turned out predictably amateur-ish (unlike those pictures of gingerbread mansions, trains, and fully functional robots that can be found on Pinterest), but we had a blast making them!

Can you tell what color candy was on sale the week after Christmas? (And can you believe Valentine's Day is already taking over the shelves? Ridiculous.) We also went through a massive pile of graham crackers--about four boxes worth--but it was understandable, considering we had about seven houses to make.

We're awful artsy fartsy, aren't we?

Very Christmassy...too bad it's a week late!

Cobblestone walkway!

Since none of us are really partiers or even stay-up-past-ten-er's, we ended our festivities around eleven (a real stretch for me) and snored in the new year in style! I hope everyone else's New Year's Eve was just as exciting as ours!

  1. Spent the day doing . . . well, . . . nothing constructive, and went to bed before 10:00. Yes, I live the wild life :-D

  2. Looks like fun. I'll have to try that next year. I was in bed soon after 10pm on New Year's eve. No big partier here!
